On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Heaven got a dancing angel. Bernard Alfred Novy, 91, of Beloit, WI, was called home.
He was born on April 21, 1933 in Vernon County, WI, the son of Alfred and Emma (Sebranek) Novy. Bernard married Ruth Shaffer on August 7, 1957 and celebrated 44 years of marriage. She predeceased him on August 6, 2001. He later married Gloria Meyer on September 30, 2017.
Bernard was formerly employed by Fairbanks Morse for 40+ years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit. Bernard was very active at the Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards. He loved to dance, especially the polka and waltz. Bernard loved his 1963 Chevy Nova. He was supportive in all of the activities and sports his girls and grandkids participated in. He was a Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewer fan. Bernard enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Europe, and New York. Bernard and Gloria were snowbirds for the last 4 years in Arizona and Florida. They spent many afternoons with their friends at Wendy’s and Road Dawg. When the kids were younger, Bernard and Ruth enjoyed taking the girls camping, to the Wisconsin Dells, and Saturday nights were for making pancakes and popcorn.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Novy; daughters, Barbara Jacobs, Janice Grainger, Karen (Kurt) Millar, Nancy (Wayne) Cichon, and Rebecca Hessler; grandchildren, Amy, Stephanie, Christina, Anthony, William, Leanna, Kirstin, Kinzie, Deena, Dalton, Kailey, and Devin; and several great-grandchildren.
Bernard was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Ruth; infant son, LeRoy; and brother, Frank.
A Funeral Service for Bernard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 737 Hackett St., Beloit, WI, with Fr. Bart Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL. Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday in the church.
