Reedsburg - Janice D. (Schuette) Plachetka, age 86 of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 with family by her side. She was born December 24, 1936 to Walter and Rosina (Baldner) Schuette.

Jan attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School and graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1954. Jan married her husband Paul, June 5, 1965, and they were happily married for 57 years. They recently celebrated the Centennial year of farming for their family farm.

Earlier years Jan worked for the law office of Stevens & LaRowe. She had large vegetable gardens, helped with the Dellona 4-H club, was in a bowling league for over 50 years, made scrapbooks for her family members and was an avid Badger and Packer fan. She also enjoyed watching her grandson’s sporting events. Jan and her family enjoyed travelling to various places in the United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and China.

Jan is survived by her husband, Paul Plachetka, daughters Rhonda Watton of Jackson, WI and Randi (Tim) Zinter of Ham Lake, MN, and grandson Hunter Zinter. Jan is also survived by her sisters-in-law Darlene Schuette of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Helen Miller of Reedsburg, WI, Carol Plachetka of Weyauwega, WI, and Stella Plachetka of Conrad, MT, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gaelyn Schuette; and brothers-in-law, Edward Plachetka, and Francis Plachetka..

A memorial service for Jan was conducted on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Crolius officiating. Visitation was held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 5:30-8:00 pm, and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time the service at the Farber Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg. Memorials may be made to St Peter’s Lutheran Church, Reedsburg.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center, along with the staff at Our House, for Jan’s care the last few months. Also, thank you to Pastor Crolius for his visits and prayers.
