Richard H. Rick, age 80, died on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at home surrounded by family. He was born on August 31, 1944 in Reedsburg. He attended and graduated from Wonewoc-Center High School in 1962.
Richard was united in marriage on June 6, 1964 to Donna Jo Staerz and never left her side for 61 years.
Richard and Donna moved to her parent’s farm in 1967. They farmed there for over 30 years. In 1990, he purchased Scenic Bluffs Equipment in Union Center and operated it for 17 years until its sale and his retirement.
He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wonewoc. He was active in the community, serving on the Wonewoc-Center School Board, eventually serving as President; served as a delegate for Wisconsin Dairies and Vernon Electric Boards, and various Church Committees.
He loved to hunt whitetail deer and go fishing with friends and family during many summer Canada fly-in adventures. He was also always willing to help a neighbor in need.
A loving husband, father and grandfather; he is survived by his wife, Donna Jo Rick; children, Brian (Karen) Rick, Tanya Whitney and Chad (Sheila) Rick; grandchildren, Jace (Chelsey), Britain, Hunter (Sadie), Maggie, William and Jennifer; three Great Grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Beverly) Rick and Bruce (Helen) Rick and uncle, Verlyn Rick. He was preceded in death by his Parents and son-in-law, Steven Whitney.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wonewoc, with Rev. Jacob Limpert officiating. Burial will be in the Millards Prairie Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Wonewoc and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Church.
