Wava M. Curnow, age 99 years, of rural Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Pine Valley Community Village, Richland Center, Wi.

She was born August 9, 1923 to Clarence and Belva (Jeidy) Knapp in Lancaster, Wi. Wava graduated from high school in Bloomington and went on to graduate with a BS from University of Wisconsin/Madison in Home Economics.

Wava was united in marriage to Wesley Curnow on June 14, 1950. They began their family in Ithaca, Wi., where Wesley taught high school English. They then moved on to Benton Harbor where their children grew up and Wava worked at a Bill Knapp restaurant as a waitress and a hostess along with raising 6 children. Wesley loved to travel, so he and Wava took the children and toured Europe during the summer. After 17 years, they then moved to New Zealand for 2 years before moving to Portage, Wi where Wesley continued teaching, and Wava was the middle school secretary for another 17 years. Upon retirement they moved to the Hillsboro area in 1986. Wava was a tireless worker who always put family first. She enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes to the delight of her family. Her pies were always very special.

Survivors include her six children: Rhonda (Alan) Rott of Hillsboro, Laura Valinske of Anchorage, Ak., Rita Curnow (Robert Chapman) of Minneapolis, Mn., Melanee Curnow of St. Paul, Mn., Donald (Ann) Curnow of Andover, Mn., Kevin Curnow (Virginia Rogers) of Ann Arbor Mi.; eight grandchildren, Donavan, Jonathon, Megan, Alexander, Gabriel, Trevor, Owen and Kerra; seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents; husband, Wesley Curnow; brother, Calvin and son-in-law, Gerald Valinske.

A family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
