Donald Rudolph Fronk, age 82 years, died on August 30, 2024 of natural causes at his home in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

Don was born on September 29, 1941 in Hillsboro, Wisconsin to Marcella (Haas) and Rudolph W. Fronk in Hillsboro, the oldest of 5 children. Don was raised on their family dairy farm near Hillsboro and a devout member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro.

His education began in the Staley one-room country school and graduated from Hillsboro High School, class of 1959 and UW-Platteville in civil engineering. His professional working years included U.S. Steel and Cook County – Chicago.

He resided in his later years in the Kewaunee / Luxemburg, WI area, forming many friendships there. He was a faithful member of St. Therese of Little Flower Catholic Church, Luxemburg, a member of the Parish Council and caretaker of the church cemetery.

He valued his Czech Heritage and was a member of the Happy Hoppers Polka Club of that area. Don always made many trips back to Hillsboro to visit family and friends, to gather at the local restaurant downtown, was a member of the Cesky Den Group in Hillsboro. He always mentioned these as happy events for him.

Don loved old tractors, owning many and enjoyed “tinkering” with those and most farm machinery of by gone days. He would strike up a conversation with anyone in reminiscing about the old times. Don never forgot his roots, his faith and his hard work ethic learned at a simpler time in his life growing up on the rural family farm.

Survivors include his siblings, Judy Pollard of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Donna) Fronk of Clovis, California, Patricia (Lewis) Haugh of Reedsburg and Steven Fronk of Rice Lake; many nieces and nephews; friends and special friends, Beatrice Klutzke and Larry Mlezia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Marcella Fronk; grandparents, Ella (Wopat) and William R. Fronk and Anna (Slama) and John Haas Jr.; and brother-in-law, James Pollard.

Memorial Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Thomas Hotek officiating. A time of visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
