James W. Wopat, age 89 years, of rural Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Elroy Health Services.
He was born on October 6, 1934, the son of James F. and Christena (Novy) Wopat at Hillsboro. James attended White City School and graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1952.
James was a dairy farmer all of his life. He was a caretaker of the St. John’s Catholic Church at White City and a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Christena Wopat; sister, Mary Kretche and brother-in-law, Robert Kretche.
Survived by his nephews, Bob Kretche and Don Kretche and niece, Kathy (Steve) Lindsey, along with other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father Don Bauer officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be at the Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
